Sensors made with Metglas Alloy 2826MB

Metglas alloy 2826MB3 can be used in various sensor applications that detect change in resonant frequency as a result of stress applied to the sensor. The resonant frequency of this sensor depends on the elastic modulus, length and density. The elastic modulus has a component that depends on the magneto-elastic property of the alloy and therefore, depends on stress applied to the sensor.

A recently published paper uses a sensor made from this material and coated with a ceramic material to study its drying behavior. A stress  developed during drying of the ceramic material changes the resonant frequency of the amorphous alloy. The long time resonant frequency was found to be consistent with the elastic behaviors of both the sensor and the ceramic.
